1) TESTING UNIT

The unit is responsible for making up a question bank for the exams carried out within the School of Foreign Languages, conducting the required operations to carry out exams as per the scheduled exam calendar. Mission of the Unit:


• To prepare all the exams carried out by the School of Foreign Languages, conduct and evaluate them.

• To assess the foreign language levels of the students and place them to the appropriate classes in accordance with their language levels. (Level Placement Exam)

• To measure how successful the students are on the subjects learnt within the academic year. (Midterms and quizzes)

• To define whether the students have the required foreign language knowledge to be able to carry out academic studies in their departments. (Proficiency Exam – carried out three times a year, at the beginning and end of the academic year, and at the end of the summer school for the students attending it)

To follow up the developments in the field of assessment and evaluation and make use of them in their operations.

2) PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT UNIT

The unit is responsible for the development of course schedules and contents of the Foreign Languages Compulsory English Classes, the planning of the academic programs, and the schedules for each semester. Mission of the Unit:


• To organize the necessary operations to use the course material for compulsory English preparatory class program coherently within and among the levels and to make all the courses at the preparatory classes in line with each other.

• In cooperation with the testing unit, to take the required action to conduct the examinations to be carried out during the academic term.

• To identify the drawbacks in application of the program to provide an insight for the next year and to organize the required work to be performed with other units and coordinators to eliminate these drawbacks.

3) IN-SERVICE TRAINING GROUP

The unit is responsible for informing the newly appointed academic staff about the current education system and conducting operations and activities aimed at in-service development of all the working academic staff. Mission of the Unit:


•To ensure the continuous vocational development of the teaching staff working at Uludağ University school of Foreign Languages.

• To inform the newly appointed teaching staff about the institution and the functioning of it.

4) BOOK SUPPLY AND DISTIBUTION UNIT

The unit is responsible for improving school library, keeping up with the latest publications on foreign languages, providing them for the library and encouraging the active use of library by the academic staff and the students.

5) TECHNOLOGY UNIT

Mission of the Unit:


• • To make sure that the students can utilize existing tools and materials at the School of Foreign Languages.

•To make it possible for the students to carry out their projects using the internet and to acquire language at the technology labs individually.

• To offer practical solutions for the academic staff to teach effectively using sophisticated technology.

6) ADDITIONAL MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT UNIT

The unit is responsible for following the latest improvements and developments in Foreign Language Teaching, revising and developing the course books and other materials used in our School, making suggestions for new materials after doing researches and supporting testing unit in forming a question Mission of the Unit:


• To organize the studies about choosing the books to be used during the ac academic year.

• To prepare additional materials in line with the subjects thought in all the courses.
